The Walt Disney Company Senior Manager, HR Manager in Vancouver, Canada
The Senior Manager, Human Resources is responsible for leading and managing the HR function, operations and team in the Vancouver studio. Understands studio strategy in order to develop appropriate HR strategies and initiatives. Partner with studio leadership and managers in the areas of talent strategy, performance management, compensation, employee relations, benefits, policy and procedures, talent retention, change management, and organizational effectiveness.
In partnership with HR Ops team, leads and manages HR operational functions including benefits, onboarding/offboarding, talent workflow, immigration, relocation and transfers, HR policy and procedures and compliance.
Partners with compensation team to manage pay for performance program including annual merit review, bonus, promotions and out of cycle requests.
Serves as HR Business partner to executives and managers. Provides direction and coaching on HR programs, policies and processes, including talent planning, learning and development, and performance management to promote engagement and a culture of continuous growth and development.
Partner with studio leadership and managers in the areas of talent strategy, performance management, compensation, employee relations, benefits, policy and procedures, talent retention, change management, and organizational effectiveness.
Resolves complex employee relations issues through coaching employees and managers, partnering with employee relations and legal.
Collaborates with recruitment, with a strong focus on acquiring and retaining top talent and on building pipeline for future needs.
Uses understanding of individual and organizational dynamics to make organizational recommendations and facilitate talent movement.
Develops thoughtful, integrated approaches to promote diversity and inclusion.
Partners with managers to assesses training and development needs based on business strategy in order to help close gaps between current and future skill sets.
Provides guidance and input on workforce planning, succession planning, and other talent development and retention activities.
Improves manager capability through coaching and implementation of management development programs and opportunities.
Drives analytics, project planning and organization in the following areas: organizational change management, workforce planning, organizational planning and talent planning.
Analyzes trends and metrics, and collaborates with HR functional experts to develop solutions, make recommendations, and develop programs.
Drives rollout plans with client groups for company-wide HR initiatives.
Responsible for planning and managing HR budget.
Manages, mentors and coaches team of HR professionals.
Basic Qualifications :
10+ years experience in Human Resources, at least 5 years in a management or HRB role.
Minimum 2 years leading and managing a team of HR Professionals.
Previous experience preferred working in a creative environment within the entertainment industry such as high tech, animation, games or VFX.
Ability to quickly establish credibility and build strong working relationships with leadership and managers.
Strong working knowledge of employment law issues and the ability to apply these to a variety of situations.
Demonstrated success in facilitating the achievement of strategic business goals.
Direct experience planning and managing organizational change initiatives, and delivering training material as needed.
Must have strong interpersonal, problem resolution, mediation, negotiation, and consulting skills and a demonstrated track record of successfully collaborating with Senior Management and Corporate.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; keen attention to detail.
Experience in partnering with a leadership team during a period of rapid growth.
Comfort in dealing with/leveraging ambiguity to promote business success in a highly matrixed environment.
Sound business judgment and ability to work successfully with a variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Ability to work within various time zone and adjust schedule as appropriate.
Ability to work overtime.
