The Enterprise Technology Engineering group in Seattle develops Internet applications and services for all the domestic and international businesses and brands across The Walt Disney Company. Our business partners include ESPN, ABC, Disney Internet Media Group, Disney Studios, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, & Disney Consumer Products. Consumer Identity and Data Platforms teams provide critical consumer facing access and identification services across TWDC.

The Cloud, Tools, Strategy and Engineering (CTSE) organization plays a central, critical business role by connecting, automating and instrumenting technology to enable rapid, accurate and efficient management of data, systems and services. We focus on the product management, architecture, design and engineering.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide analysis and guidance on strategic technical direction for the team.

  • Help drive the standards and practices across the team and development org.

  • Engineering with modern practices ( automated acceptance tests at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acceptance_testing , team ownership, thin vertical slices at http://blogs.adobe.com/agile/2013/09/27/splitting-stories-into-small-vertical-slices/ , emergent design at http://www.scaledagileframework.com/agile-architecture/ , etc)

  • Engineering solutions that are continuously available at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuous_availability , and up to org quality & standards

  • Continue to improve software engineering skills

  • Communication/collaboration both in and out side of the team

  • Owning and driving our overall engineering process

  • As needed: software architecture, project leadership, documentation, customer interaction

  • Provide technical leadership

Basic Qualifications :

  • 7+ years of software development experience

  • Experience with Javascript, AngularJS/React, ES6, NodeJS

  • Experience with API creation and consumption

  • Experience with Software Design and Architecture

  • Experience with User Experience Design

  • Proactively identify and solve issues

  • Experience with web application development

  • Experience with meta-programming

  • Experience with automated testing, ideally ATDD

  • An understanding of data structures and algorothims

  • Driven to get work done in a timely fashion

  • Open to adaptating and learning

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience with Multiple Programming Paradigms (OOP, Functional, Procedural, Aspect, etc)

  • Understanding of operations and/or systems engineering

  • Experience developing with Vim/Emacs on a unix cli

  • Familiarity with Agile, Lean, or Kanban

  • Experience with a Unix Command Line Interface

Required Education :

BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent experience
