The Walt Disney Company will launch a Disney-branded streaming service in 2019 featuring an incomparable collection of content from its brands and franchises recognized and respected all over the world. The direct-to-consumer (DTC) service will serve as the exclusive home for viewing original movies, series, short-form, and more, along with a vibrant catalogue that spans classic Disney Animation to the most recent movie releases. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced team member for the position of Product Manager. Reporting to the Director of Product for the Disney DTC service and part of the Disney Streaming Services team in New York, this individual will focus on defining and driving implementation of all cross-service product features of the SVOD service. The Product Manager will have experience with backend services driving features of the service and ensure a consistent implementation to create a world-class user experience on all devices. They will collaborate closely with the frontend application development and design teams. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with one or all of the the following: OTT video applications on web, mobile or a streaming device (including Smart-TV’s and gaming consoles). They will also be familiar with aspects of electronic commerce, account services and CMS implementations
Manage all aspects of the experience across frontend applications and backend services.
Translate business and product requirements into actionable CMS, design and engineering tickets using agile product development techniques.
Partner with Disney Streaming Services frontend and backend engineering teams to help lead the communication regarding service implementation of the product and strive to identify the best possible subscription experience within the constraints of devices and available technology.
Ensure that the customer experience is homogenized across all devices and feels truly like one service, independent of the device.
Contribute to a product roadmap that accomplishes business/customer goals and aligns with the team charter & tenets.
Take a data driven approach to constantly improve the subscriber experience. Suggest and develop strategies to analyze data and reduce churn.
Align the customer experience with TWDC’s best practices for commerce and transactional relationships.
Basic Qualifications :
3-4 years experience in all aspects of product management across a matrixed organization with a particular focus on e-commerce and CMS
Experience with e-commerce and in-app purchase rules for all major players (i.e. Apple, Google, Amazon)
Experience working with various Content Management Systems
Strong strategic aptitude, clear thinking and communicating, and great decision making
Obsession with making customers happy, and strong opinions about good customer experience
Lead effective product sessions culminating in technical requirements ready for development
Analytical chops and know-how in building data-driven decision and measurement systems
Strong attention to detail, with an ability take a step back and understand the bigger picture
Successful experience building and executing product roadmaps aligned with business requirements and technology capabilities in global businesses
Effectively support the engineering team throughout sprint cycles by proactively removing roadblocks that may impact quality of service and on-time delivery
Scrappiness and resourcefulness, no fear of getting your hands dirty, and an impulse to be the first to tackle any challenge.
Know when to escalate issues expediently and accurately when blockers arise
Preferred Qualifications :
Relevant experience in the context of a subscription-based entertainment content service
Experience with product development in the areas of video streaming and D2C subscription services.
Personal affinity for the brands and franchises of The Walt Disney Company.
