The Walt Disney Company Manager Finance- Sales and Overhead Planning in New York, New York

DATG is seeking a Manager of Sales Overhead Planning for ABC. This leader will partner with the Disney/ABC TV Sales leadership team to deliver on the strategic, financial and operational goals of the business. Reporting to the Director of Revenue Planning & Analysis, this individual will lead financial planning and reporting for Sales departmental overhead, Client Events, Technology Initiatives, Integrated Marketing and Production. The role will include a unique blend of strategic thinking, analysis and solution-oriented project management. In addition, the Manager will create business analyses to support decision-making for Sales operations.

Responsibilities : Financial Planning and Reporting

  • In coordination with Disney/ABC TV Sales, deliver streamlined reporting packages and detailed variance analysis for Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Long Range Plan (LRP), forecasts, quarter closes and other analyses as required to Planning, Controllership, Corporate and Business Unit Finance teams

  • Lead team through Cognos Planning and Reporting initiatives to ensure requirements are met

  • Manage ongoing effort to merge DATG Sales organization utilizing Cognos tools, data and reporting standardization, pro formas and adjustments as needed

  • Ensure proper sales costs allocations to lines of business (LOB) and Disney entities

Business Planning & Decision Support

  • Partner with DATG Sales leadership to provide analysis on strategic recommendations and business initiatives

  • Develop and lead business analyses for presentation to Executives

  • Own day-to-day financial operations of Sales teams: T&E management, events, client and audience solutions, capital planning, labor and overhead

  • Provide guidance on integrated marketing and social deals to ensure proper revenue and expense recognition

  • Analyze all aspects of operations, structure, and costs to help identify opportunities with the goal of maximizing operational efficiency

  • Support audits and manage SOX compliance for Sales systems

Organizational Development and Business Transformation

  • Champion a culture of creativity, collaboration, diversity and innovation

  • Support staffing and resourcing decisions, including the transformation of business models amid fast-changing media landscape

  • Develop and mentor a senior financial analyst and sales support staff

Basic Qualifications :

DATG Finance is looking for a tech savvy, FP&A lead who can take data and translate it into sound business recommendations that enable ABC to make nimble, actionable decisions. The ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with stakeholders across the company will be critical to success. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of finance and sales, and leverage this knowledge to identify opportunities and process improvements.

  • 7+ years of related experience, preferably in a media environment with at least 5 years management experience

  • Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling experience and PowerPoint proficiency

  • Solid knowledge of financial planning and accounting (GAAP)

  • SAP and Cognos/TM1 knowledge preferred

  • Be a leader who is comfortable working with stakeholders of all levels

  • Be detailed-oriented, self-motivated, flexible and have highly-developed analytical and communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
