The Walt Disney Company Director, Data & Ad Product Communications Strategy in New York, New York

The Director, Data & Ad Product Communications Strategy role reports to the Vice President of Data & Ad Strategy & Program Management - and is charged with creating, delivering and owning a communications strategy and ad hoc strategic material development on behalf of the Data and Ad Product & Platforms team at ESPN.

The right candidate must bring capability both in the development of materials and analyses that help support decision making and also be able to distill complex topics into cogent prose and an eye for elegant visual concepts. Frequently working under tight deadlines this leader will be accountable for delivering material to be presented to executives at the highest levels of the Walt Disney Company. A commensurate assessor of information, s/he will be able to tease out the key concepts from broad assortments of data and information and instinctively understand and highlight broader implications. S/he will also be able to create the tools that support strategic decision making – including market analyses and financial models. The right candidate must have a bias for action, proven experience building relationships that service subject matter expertise and a strong desire to contribute to the business objectives of the organization at the highest level.

Responsibilities :

  • Evaluate, analyze, structure and prepare input material to help drive strategic decision making: including market assessments, acquisition evaluations and revenue models

  • Define and coordinate collection processes for content across multiple multi-disciplinary groups in order to create executive level communication materials

  • Manage creation, versioning and review process across ad hoc material preparation under tight timelines

  • Rapidly gain subject matter expertise across all topics pertaining to the work of the Data & Ad Products & Platforms group in order to set a communications and knowledge management strategy for the team

  • Liaise with design resources (both internal and external) and hold them accountable for meeting deadlines at quality

  • Give style guidance for content creation and develop term usage taxonomy across team and beyond

  • Pro-actively keep a pulse across broad market and organizational forces that impact strategic direction

  • Develop processes to create and maintain standard cadence communication to represent the team both within ESPN and The Walt Disney Company

Basic Qualifications :

  • 6+ years of work experience in communications or strategic support function

  • 3+ years of work experience at digital ad technology provider or digital publisher

  • Proven experience analyzing complex topics and inputs and creating material that assists in driving decision making

  • Must have proven experience distilling complex concepts into clear accessible language

  • Exacting eye for detail

  • Have a knack for story telling as a mechanism to convey information

  • An eye for design

  • Highly motivated strategic thinker

  • A sense of urgency and bias for action
