The Walt Disney Company Commercial Manager, Softlines in London, United Kingdom

We are seeking a Commercial Manager (Softlines) to join our Integrated Retail and Licensing team on a permanent basis.

The Commercial Manager is responsible for the management of the footwear& accessories, traditional licensee base and contribution towards setting the fiscal year strategic plan by consumer, product and franchise to ensure the delivery of long term sustainable growth.

Day to day you will be required to actively manage relationships with the licensee base as well as the key non DTR (Direct To Retail) retailers, manage the fiscal forecast process, manage all commercial aspects of the contract, be the conduit for The Walt Disney Company ILS (International Labour Standards) process with the licensee base, regularly communicate all content and creative, be aware of the product and franchise plans for the season and strive to meet them.

Responsibilities include:

  • Actively manage the day to day relationship with the licensee base as well as the key non DTR footwear and accessories retailers

  • Negotiate licensing agreements and identify most effective business models by sub-category

  • Understand and communicate the ILS (International Labour Standards)process and be the conduit between the licensee and the TWDC ILS team

  • Manage the fiscal forecast process delivering accuracy in line with the core requirements

  • Contribute in the setting of the fiscal year strategic plan by consumer, product and franchiseto ensure the delivery of long term sustainable growth and appropriately inform all key stakeholders

  • Lead footwear & accessories strategy and be the go to person for all footwear and accessories related issues within UK Softlines Team

  • Develop new business opportunities and build relationship with strategic retail accounts

  • Maximize penetration of the existing branded projects, provide updates on local franchise plans and national marketing initiatives

  • Work closely with regional team to activate campaigns at selected key retail accounts

  • Communicate all content and creative, setting the product and franchise plans for the season

  • Work with product development team on a product handwriting and execution to drive innovation and sales

  • Work in synergy with the relevant account and marketing teams to ensure the delivery of key sales and marketing activations at retail that reflect consumer trends

  • Be able to present and champion business, product development, trend, best practise opportunities to both internal and external audiences

Suitable candidates will ideally possess the following skills and experience:

  • A background in retail buying, merchandising or commercial footwear/accessories category specific experience is essential

  • An understanding of the licensed business model (emphasis on the fashion categories Footwear and Accessories)

  • Contract negotiation and management skills strongly preferred

  • Sales & marketing skills/savvy

  • Strong understanding of the retail landscape for UK footwear &accessories market
