The Walt Disney Company Commercial Manager, Hardlines (Part-Time Jobshare) in London, United Kingdom

We are seeking a Commercial Manager to join our Integrated Retail and Licensing team on a part-time job share basis.

Please note that we are offering this position on a part-time job share basis. We would ideally be looking for an individual to work 2/3 full days per week. The individual would ideally be present in the office on a Wednesday.

The Commercial Manager is responsible for supporting the delivery of account and category execution strategies for established and emerging licensees within the infant & preschool category plus potential other toys and stationery sub categories.

They will be expected to deliver the sales targets in conjunction with the Snr Commercial Manager and as defined by the corporate fiscal budget.

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering the category strategy and managing the commercial relationship of a number of infant & preschool licensees both globally, regionally and locally. The scope of the role will include knowledge and understanding of the toys and in particular the competitive infant & pre-school environment in order to deliver growth for The Walt Disney Company with exceptional, magical, innovative, fun and educational products that captivate and inspire passion, respect, and trust within UK market. The category needs to be managed in line with local market needs and must be constantly challenged.

The Commercial Manager will also work with internal Disney partners including franchise, soft lines, channel, PR, shopper marketing etc to deliver the ‘Disney Difference’ at retail and act as an ambassador for TWDC with all partners.

Responsibilities include:

Financial Accountability

  • Support the Snr Commercial Manager with development and execution of the P & L and budgets for designated categories and licensees within infant & pre-school

  • Ensure targets are met as a minimum with a plan to over-achieve

  • Management of contract negotiations for UK Managed licensees to seek approval of Snr Manager and UK Hardlines Director

Retail Account Management

  • Work with key licensees, Shopper Marketing, category leads, retail analytics, and other key stakeholders to deliver key objectives and strategy with the Disney Junior strategy team.

Licensee Management

  • Contribute to growth and market share to the overall Hardlines category

  • Develop and maintain successful working relationships with licensees through robust joint business planning

  • Manage operational affairs relating to the licensees, including contract negotiations, contract management, product development and forecasting

  • Build brand and marketing plans that positively impact brand health and wider cross-company initiatives and share these plans across the business to fully engage key stakeholders.

  • Plot trends, identify profitable areas of growth and recommend strategies for exploiting gaps in the infant & pre-school category

  • Maximize the breadth of product within the category if relevant, with support from Disney Consumer Product insight to reach all appropriate demographics, making recommendations for exploring new business opportunities

  • Right size the scale of sku requirement for infant preschool by brand.

  • Work with EMEA & Global Licensing team keeping them informed of UK participation in licensing deals as well as UK licensing efforts that have the potential to become licensing deals.

Contract Management

  • Support the Hardlines licensing team by managing all agreed contract deal memos and transitioning them into the Invision System in an organized and timely manner working closely with the central Contracts Management Team.

  • Work closely with the UK Hardlines and Contracts Management Team to ensure all deadlines are met and deal parameters are reflected accurately in the Contracts System.

Suitable candidates will ideally possess the following skills and experience:

  • Graduate calibre, with excellent & proven commercial understanding of business

  • Financial acumen & the ability to analyse data & construct practical conclusions/recommendations essential

  • Experience of setting up senior relationships

  • Experience of developing and delivering category plans preferred

  • Experience of working in multi-level matrix relationship environment, in a multinational organisation preferred

This role may require domestic business travel to be signed off by Snr Commercial Manager
