The Walt Disney Company Software Engineer in Lake Buena Vista, Florida

The Software Engineer applies practical knowledge of development and engineering to conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software fixes, enhancements, components, and/or new software systems and applications of moderate complexity. The Software Engineer focuses on coding at the component level and works under minimal supervision. The Software Engineer designs and develops highly scalable software systems and applications in a designated functional focus area(s).

Responsibilities : A hands-on software engineer who will:

  • Support the development team

  • Work closely with studio team to design and deliver features based on prioritized tasks

  • Determine how to solve business problems by asking questions and understanding value propositions

  • Contribute to releases and drive improvements in the product releases

  • Be a team player, solution provider and proactive thinker with good communication skills

  • Manage simultaneous work streams with ease

  • Work closely with technical leads and other team members to identify and complete development assignments

  • Work with internal and vendor resources to develop and deliver work

  • Work with team to maintain source code repositories

  • Work closely with technical and non-technical partners to strategize on approach and dependency management

  • Diagnose issues, evaluate and recommend the best resolution, and execute against that plan

  • Participate in the creation of development / software engineering best practices, including capacity planning, monitoring, configuration, security, historical metrics, recovery strategies and migration strategies

  • Contribute to scrum sessions, executing sprint planning, sprint retrospective and sprint demos

Basic Qualifications :

  • Two to five years of progressively related experience in coding and development of highly scalable, high-volume software components, and/or client-facing web applications.

  • Knowledge of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, coding best practices, database applications

Knowledge/experience in relevant technologies, such as:

  • Java

  • AWS

  • Docker

  • Spring/Spring Boot

  • SQL

  • JSON Messaging

  • JavaScript/Node/Angular

  • NoSQL and/or RDBMS

  • Caching Technologies

  • RESTful Web Services

Required Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field or related work experience.
