The Walt Disney Company Planning Manager - WDW Manufacturing in Lake Buena Vista, Florida

This role is to select, lead, and develop a cast of 20+ salaried, office and technical, hourly, contract and intern employees in developing detailed manufacturing job plans and material requirements for a large and complex manufacturing business. The planning manager and his team directly support the manufacturing operating departments while also serving as the point of contact for specific internal Walt Disney Company client groups, converting their requests into specific shop floor routings.

Responsibilities :

  • Utilize leadership qualities to select, lead, and develop a cast of salaried, office and technical and hourly employee groups.

  • Direct team in performing detailed and integrated process engineering, sequencing and planning of diverse jobs involving wide variety of trades performing maintenance, manufacturing, and rehabs for rides, shows and transportation systems.

  • Prioritize the efforts of the planning team, effectively utilizing resources to meet planning volume and schedule demands.

  • Partner effectively with internal Estimating, Scheduling, Manufacturing Operations and Project Management disciplines as well as Quality Assurance, Purchasing and Engineering to build processes and organize work flow streams that meet and exceed client needs.

  • Analyze current systems and lead reengineering of planning processes and reorganization of work flow, evaluating best industry tools and processes; keep abreast of the latest technology in the field.

  • Champion integration of applications and data.

  • Provide operational and strategic leadership to develop and utilize standardized manufacturing plans.

  • Identify and implement training to create a professional and flexible cross-functional planning team.

  • Maintain and develop clear policies, procedures and accountabilities for planning team.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Strong technical skills over multiple disciplines and manufacturing processes

  • 3 years management experience in a competitive maintenance, manufacturing or processing industry

  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit initiative and professionalism in a time sensitive, high-pressure environment managing multiple priorities through a diverse cast

  • Demonstrated ability to lead salaried and hourly Cast, ensuring productivity and accountability

  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills

  • Proven strong analytical/quantitative skills and problem solving ability

  • Ability to understand system interfaces, reports and processes

  • Experience with project management with large scale projects

  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with all levels and disciplines within the organization

  • Demonstrated phone etiquette, customer service, and interpersonal skills and strong business acumen

  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team; strong Cast development and coaching skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer in a competitive manufacturing , maintenance or processing industry

  • Experience in design, development and implementation of integrated information systems

  • Proficiency in Maximo and SAP

  • Working knowledge of Solid Works

Required Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction / Project Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Preferred Education :

  • MBA or advanced degree
