The Walt Disney Company Network Services Engineer in Lake Buena Vista, Florida
This position serves as a member of the Utility Integration team at Reedy Creek Energy Services and as a front-line leader of Network Services. The selected candidate will be responsible for the performance, safety, and security of the organization’s information technology hardware and software, including establishment of standards and security procedures for both software and physical protection as well as assigning, scheduling, and supervising the work of the Network Services and SCADA departments. While this position’s primary role is the performance of the information technology hardware and software, the secondary role is to provide customer support for other utilities (i.e., chilled water, hot water, compressed air, gas, et cetera) within Reedy Creek Energy Services.
Provides oversight to five (5) salaried IT professionals and two (2) front line Cast Members engaged in Reedy Creek Energy Services Network Services, Instruments and Controls, and SCADA functions.
Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for critical systems.
Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project direction to provide a high level of service and customers support.
Confers and builds consensus within the Network Services, Instrument Control, SCADA and other departments to determine system functions, procedures, desired results and define issues.
Leads the development and implementation of cyber security and IT/Network business continuity processes and procedures.
Analyses, evaluates vendor supplied software and hardware products; recommends and coordinates acquisitions, installations, configuration and use.
Prioritize and schedule resources to effectively utilize and to meet customer/client requirements during normal operation and utility emergencies. This includes but is not limited to Mapping/GIS, mobile devices and landline telephone systems, email systems, radios, utility billing programs, internet and intranet services, office productivity programs, other software, and network switches.
Oversees the Information technology inventory management.
Stays abreast of latest technologies, applications and industry standards by reviewing periodicals, attending seminars and maintaining contact with local vendors, RCID IT, and Disney IT.
Promote and support Cast engagement by listening, arbitrating competing interests, identifying problems in the early stages and making timely decisions.
Develop Cast Members by leading, training, motivating, coaching and counseling to meet the expectations of the position.
Manage the department budget and work processes.
Supports the core businesses by removing obstacles to continually improve operational reliability, cost effectiveness and safety through efficiently and effectively documenting procedures, increasing automation, and updating equipment where appropriate.
Basic Qualifications :
Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, including at least three (3) years of leadership experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Thorough knowledge of core internet technologies including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, IIS.
Working knowledge of managing multiple servers and storage farms.
Working knowledge of managing a virtual machine (VM) environment.
Working knowledge of operating network transmission media including fiber optic and copper cabling.
Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations and to work well under pressure.
Ability to lead and direct teams, establish performance expectations, and motivate and coach team members.
Ability to work in a variety of environments, including field conditions.
Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, including at least five (5) years of leadership experience.
Working knowledge of managing communications for a SCADA control network.
Prior related utility work experience.
Required Education :
- Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline or associate's degree with fifteen (15) years related experience.
Preferred Education :
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer or information technology or related field.
