Key aspects of the Technical Manager role include working closely with the business and technology product teams to drive requested capabilities throughout the entire development life cycle including conceptualization, estimation, design, development, QA, deployment and support. Other key attributes include test driven development philosophy, agile software development principles, project management, business acumen, and evangelism to successfully accomplish this opportunity.

The Technical Manager, will continuously improve, adapt, and align processes to enhance teams’ agility, capabilities, and delivery productivity. The candidate will utilize varied techniques in conjunction with exceptional verbal and written communication skills to deliver features on time and meeting quality standards.

Responsibilities :

  • Managing a culturally diverse and geographically distributed team of talented architects and developers to deliver multiple large scale initiatives.

  • Present technical solutions in front of senior executive leadership

  • Work with Product Owners to groom the prioritized backlog and translate into actionable roadmaps, delivery plans and executable work items for the program team with defined delivery schedules.

  • Ensure applicable regulatory requirements are met by identity and personalization platform technologies

  • Seek to achieve continuous flow by ensuring the work is balanced and progressing, while eliminating roadblocks and meeting delivery commitments

  • Develop best-in-class processes and systems while driving continual improvement

  • Promote and ensure the team’s adherence to secure coding, unit testing, test automation, and continuous delivery best practices

  • Communicate status, updates and project summaries via presentations, email and direct communication with key stakeholders and executive leadership

  • Lead a team of solution architects to collaborate with platform architects, systems engineers, and lead analysts on designing solutions and estimates.

  • Resolving issues with delivery roadblocks efficiently to minimize impact to project budget and timelines.

  • Responsible for financial health of the solution engineering architecture and delivery teams by closely tracking forecast and actuals for resources, infrastructure, and tools.

  • Deliver enterprise apps for Walt Disney Attractions Technology in an Agile software environment.

  • Responsible for ensuring teams are collaborating in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Establish best practices to streamline the estimation and solutioning process.

  • Drive solution engineering architects to deliver estimates based on solution architecture approach.

  • Ensure the team translates complex functional, technical, and business requirements into architectural designs.

  • Conduct proofs of concept for emerging technologies where required.

  • Adapt to a quickly changing environment and interact with a broad customer base with diverse needs and functional responsibilities.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 10 years in leading software development activities and managing large multi-location / culturally diverse teams.

  • Minimum of 4 of and defining solution architectures and estimation.

  • Experience in working with open source code and frameworks (hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, Spring, XML, JSON, Apache Tomcat, Kafka, Spark, Rules Engine, Oracle or MySQL/MariaDB, SQL, Python/Java, Amazon Web Services.

  • Proven experience in software integration patterns – web services, eventing, MSA, EAI, ESB, SOA.

  • Experience as a member of a high performing technical team working in a fast-paced enterprise software development environment while demonstrating a strong ability to prioritize multiple priorities and respond to urgent issues and/or changes in product priorities.

  • Understanding of Java web services and Microservice Architectures and core design patterns

  • Understanding of Payment Platforms and supporting technologies

  • Proven experience in modern web development, mobile, and heterogenous integrations.

  • Solid understanding of open source data management components and services including Hadoop, Nifi, Spark, Flume, Kafka and Hive

  • Proven experience in vendor package selection process, negotiations, and contract generation and execution

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Required Knowledge of industry standard project execution methodologies like Agile/SCRUM or Agile/Kanban, along with a working understanding of epic, story, and task level sizing and planning activities.

  • Full SDLC experience

  • Understanding of WDP&R’s technical infrastructure and server environments

  • Innovation mindset, driving cultural change with the creative use of data and technology

  • Proven experience and domain knowledge in the lodging and entertainment space.

Required Education :

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant industry experience.
