Walt Disney Attractions Technology (WDAT), supporting the Parks and Resorts segment, is increasingly faced with demands to reduce cost, grow revenue and deliver faster, in an already complex operating environment; these demands require us to look at innovative ways of operating in order to overcome these challenges.

We are seeking an experienced Manager of Project Management to help lead our project management execution team (project managers, and project controllers). He or she will lead project managers that are responsible for complex large scale technology projects across a diverse portfolio supporting all aspects of the Parks and Resorts segment. This role is part of a team of leaders who are the driving force in the development and growth of the Project Management and Project controller team’s influence within our organization with a focus on helping to evolve our teams’ agile mindset and our processes and tools. The ideal candidate is a current project management office leader/senior leader who is passionate about enabling delivery and business value through project management excellence, relevant processes and tools, and continuing to grow our agile maturity.

This role is part of a team of leaders who are the driving force in the development and growth of the Project Management & Platform’s influence within our organization with a focus on helping to evolve our teams’ agile mindset and evolve our processes and tools. The ideal candidate is passionate about enabling delivery and business value to our guests and cast through project management excellence, relevant processes and tools, and continuing to grow our agile maturity.

Responsibilities :

  • Leads a team of program managers, project managers, and/or project controllers (Cast Members and Consultants), matching capacity and delivery to ensure the right people are assigned to the right initiatives within the organization.

  • Plays an active role in building our practice through the mentoring and development of talent.

  • Drives value across the organization by continuously improving how technology delivery and financials are managed and monitored.

  • Partners and proactively communicates across multiple groups to promote transparency and understanding related to project/product planning, forecasting and delivery processes.

  • Plays an active role on our journey to become an agile/lean project management organization, through skill and knowledge of the project management function, to ensure outcome driven value for our guests and Cast.

  • Sponsors process and practice improvements in the project management environment and serves as a catalyst for project management excellence.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Proven experience managing project management professionals with direct accountability for hiring, budgeting, team accountability, team/process development, and evolving the role of the PMO within an organization.

  • Minimum 10+ years overall experience with project management methodologies and practices with leadership experience in a technical environment.

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in agile based Project Management or equivalent experience, ideally in a cross-functional technical delivery capacity.

  • Proven knowledge and experience in leading teams in the technology field and technology project delivery.

  • Proven experience as a leader/manager within an organization responsible for delivering projects related to technology architecture/infrastructure, significant system upgrades, enhancements, and/or replacements.

  • Demonstrated ability to help coach of a team of PMs to manage critical dependencies and drive risk mitigation for large programs

  • Proven experience implementing process improvements within a PMO organization.

  • Proven experience as a leader/manager of individuals responsible for the delivery of large, multidisciplinary efforts across a large scale matrix technology organization.

  • Proficiency with Enterprise Project Portfolio Management tools. (Clarity, VersionOne, JIRA, etc.)

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in systems development lifecycle (SDLC) in a technology organization.

  • Demonstrates agile mindset in the execution of project management principles & practices (PMI/CMMI/Agile Alliance/Scrum Alliance).

  • Strong understanding and hands on experience of project financial concepts, forecasting, and budget management.

  • Proven ability to successfully operate in a matrix organization where partnership and influence are the key drivers of success.

  • Advanced experience in managing and leading programs and projects for over 8+ years

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as presentation and group dynamics skills.

  • Solid understanding of technology organizations and specific challenges and issues.

  • Advanced knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office tools.

  • Demonstrated inclusive leadership that embraces diversity.

  • High level of interpersonal skills and proven emotional maturity when handling difficult conversations

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead efforts to provide overall guidance and structure for creating and maintaining standards for project management.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage the day-to-day tasks of diverse teams, while effectively influencing senior management on key decisions and direction.

  • Experience in supporting travel trade, hospitality, and/or large-scale businesses and logistics systems.

Required Education :

  • Minimum college/undergraduate degree (e.g., B.S. /B.A.) or equivalent experience.

  • Certified Scrum Master for 3+ years

Preferred Education :

  • Bachelors in a technology/engineering field

  • Master’s Degree
