Candidate should have good verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work independently as a self-starter, utilize good time management skills, and function well within a diverse team.

Responsibilities : With The Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Technology group, this intern will be integrated into a hardware IoT technology delivery team focused on building Cast-facing applications that support our Resorts and Park Operations. The individual for this position should have a passion for analysis, design and development of technology solutions. The IoT Engineer Intern will have exposure to a variety of technologies including but not limited to IoT sensors, rf communications, field and lab testing of IoT solutions. He or she should have or be in the process of learning and applying related development technologies.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Experience with electronics & sensor lab and field testing, validation and installation

  • Coursework in RF principles or exposure to RF equipment, testing, measurements

  • Experience with electronics, engineering and hardware/software

  • Ability to follow existing programming and style guidelines to maintain consistent quality of code

  • Ability to maintain documentation, procedures and working instructions for the operations team

  • Shows initiative in constantly reassessing business needs and makes suggestions that meet those needs proactive

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with IoT Hackathons

  • Experience with various sensors based on microcontroller or modules

  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and platforms, mobile development, AWS a plus

  • Experience with embedded languages like assembly, C, C++, C#

  • Amazon Web Services experience

Required Education :

Junior, Senior, Graduate Level student or recent graduate (within 6 months of graduating) pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field.

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.

  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization

  • Must provide full work availability

  • Must provide own transportation to/from work

  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are January 2019-May 2019. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Housing: A limited amount of company sponsored housing is available on first-come, first-serve basis. If company sponsored housing is not available, interns must be able to provide their own housing for the duration of the internship.
