The Walt Disney Company Associate Software Engineer in Lake Buena Vista, Florida
The Associate Software Engineer within Walt Disney Attractions Technology organization is expected to be independently innovative, deliberately collaborative who can work under guidance and direction to build products and capabilities to solve complex business problems. In addition, the Associate Software Engineer would be expected to quickly learn and gain expertise in unfamiliar technology areas. The position will have a strong focus on mobile and digital technologies operating on a fast paced “Startup” like environment taking current business and technology problems to build innovative solutions. Primary responsibilities include write efficient, high quality, testable, reliable, maintainable code, participate in technical design, write unit testing and review code for large-scale, complex initiatives including but not limited to, advanced and emerging payments.
Primary responsibility will be to perform hands-on code development for large-scale, complex initiatives
Build re-usable enterprise frameworks
Propose Opensource for efficient in-house development and improve speed to market
Ability to quickly prototype and prototype in any technology to a business or technology problem
Proactively participates in technical design activities with Architects and documents technical specifications
Writes high quality code adhering to Walt Disney Attractions Technology coding standards, reference and data architecture guidelines
Oversees the build process, low level design documentation, and conducts code reviews for partner resources
Conducts testing, debugging and performance tuning of applications
Monitors progress and provides status of tasks and deliverables, and escalates risks and issues in a timely manner
Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and become a quick expert in a variety of technology areas
Troubleshoot and resolve issues, problems, and errors encountered across various applications and analyze and optimize application code for efficiency, reliability and performance.
Basic Qualifications :
Hands-on coding experience for 2 to 3 years
Be creative and passionate about Java, React, NoSQL, Databases, Mobile and cutting-edge technologies
Should have good development experience in Node JS, must have experience in node modules like Express, Restify (Good to have), Promises (Bluebird/q), Lodash, Request
Good proficiency in testing framework, writing unit test cases using mocha, chai, jasmine for both client and server side application
Should have good experience in HTML5, CSS3/ less and bootstrap framework.
Must have knowledge on Responsive Web Design
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
Experience working with Continuous Integration and Deployment tools e.g. Maven, Jenkins, GIT
Willingness to “think-outside-of-the-box” to resolve project / process ailments
A desire to work in a fast-paced and challenging work environment
Strong technical, problem-solving, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated strong partnering and coaching skills
Preferred Qualifications :
Hands on experience in technologies including Angular/Node/React, Java/J2EE, No-SQL, Graph databases
Exposure to Mobile development platforms
Understanding of Object Oriented Programming concepts
Technology Certification e.g. Spring, Java Programmer, iOS Developer
Process Certification e.g. Scrum Master Certification
Required Education :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
