The Retail Controllership group is primarily responsible for managing the accounting and reporting for The Disney Store North America brick and mortar stores, e-commerce, and merchandise wholesale businesses. In addition to management reporting processes, the team is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the company’s key controls and SOX requirements.
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Accounting, the Senior Financial Accounting Analyst (SFAA) will be primarily responsible for inventory accounting and reporting. The SFAA will be involved in the monthly close processes including but not limited to inventory obsolescence calculations, inbound freight and duty analysis, and providing financial statement variance explanations. The SFAA will also assist in business initiatives which results in partnering with Finance, Planning, Inventory Control, IT, and Tax.
Responsibilities : The position will be primarily responsible for the following key tasks:
Accounting and analysis for inventory, including gross margin, COGS, obsolescence, shrink, and mark out of stock
Presenting results of analyses to management, including obsolescence reserve, product testing, and inbound freight and duty
Monitoring system interfaces with the front of house systems and the general ledger
Forecasting and accounting for product testing and tooling costs
Driving efficiencies through continuous review and improvement of existing processes
Serving as a resource to FAAs for accounting questions
Supporting Manager on special projects and initiatives, which requires partnership with cross functional teams including Finance, Corporate (e.g. Legal, Tax), IT, Planning, and Inventory Control, to ensure that transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP
Actively participating in Controllership and Company initiatives
Basic Qualifications :
Minimum experience of 3-4 years in accounting (preferably Big 4 or other Public Accounting experience; Retail accounting experience desired)
Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills
Proficient in Excel
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Required Education :
- 4-Year degree (Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration)
