The Walt Disney Company Principal Network Engineer in Burbank, California

The Business Network Design Services organization (BNDS) is responsible for the engineering and design of telecommunications and network solutions. We strive to meet business requirements, goals and objectives utilizing a variety of technologies and advanced networking services. The Principal Network Engineer role within Disney differs from the ordinary – we offer the opportunity to work with a wide variety of business segments that include Studios, (Lucasfilm & Pixar), Direct-to-consumer, our Media networks, Parks & Resorts, and Cruise Lines.

The Principal Network Engineer represents an embedded, highly consultative, DevOps style business segment partner that focuses on solutioning, and subsequent network architecture, design and engineering of network solutions. This role goes beyond the traditional engineering function and entails serving as an advisor, thought leader and visionary, solving unique networking challenges of large-scale events such as D23 and the Oscars, to the unique network challenges associated with the development of a direct-to-consumer media strategy.

You will work closely with the business and other Disney IT constituents to solicit and rationalize business and technical requirements. In addition, you will participate in business strategy development subsequently orchestrating the development and employment of technology solutions that provide value to the business segment and The Walt Disney Company overall. You will also collaborate with the outsourced supplier(s) to communicate Disney network requirements and reviews the supplier recommended solutions/projects to ensure the design and approach meet the business needs.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 8-10 years of professional experience in a technology

  • Strong familiarity with Cisco, Arista, and Palo Alto

  • Strong familiarity with network routing/switching, LAN and/or WAN

  • Familiarity with Information Security, specifically network design related to firewalls, IDS/IPS appliances

  • One or more of the following certifications; CCNP R/S/Security, CCDP, CCNA/CCNP Cloud, ACE (Arista)

  • Strong written and oral communications

  • Strong requirements facilitation skills\

Helpful Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Media, Broadcast, Theatrical, or Entertainment industries

  • CCDE

  • Familiarity with technologies such as Everts, Imagine, and Avid

Required Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, business, or other related scientific or technical discipline desired

  • Education can be substituted by at least 8-10 years of directly relevant IT experience.
