The Corporate Alliance Strategy team is seeking a highly qualified individual to help lead account planning, financial analysis, and recommendation development for the Corporate Alliance organization. The ideal candidate will have a natural curiosity to pressure-test assumptions and drive strategic thinking and execution, always pushing to understand “why” and question “how can we improve.” The candidate will have the strong relationship-building and leadership skills to collaborate with and guide team members across levels in exciting new ways to approach Account Management for the Corporate Alliance organization. The candidate will also need advanced analytical and presentation skills (written and verbal). A team-oriented attitude and sense of fun are essential.

The Corporate Alliances Strategy team supports three businesses within The Walt Disney Company and works directly with the VPs who own the P&Ls for these businesses. These businesses include:
Corporate Alliances Business Development and Account Management: strategic business partnerships between Disney and 50+ key brands across categories
Operating Participants: leasing and tenant strategy for Disney’s retail, dining and entertainment districts at Disney resorts around the world including Downtown Disney (Anaheim), Disney Springs (Orlando), and Disneytown (Shanghai)
Gift Cards: production of a range of fixed and variable value Disney gift cards that are distributed through both Disney properties and third party retailers, for redemption anywhere within Disney’s Parks, Resorts, Cruises, Vacations or retail channels
Within the overall Corporate Alliances team, the Strategy team helps to set the long-term strategy for each business and supports decision-making. The Strategy team works closely with the Parks & Resorts segment (Operations, Imagineering, Finance, Research, Industrial Engineering etc.), as well as other stakeholder groups throughout The Walt Disney Company.
Responsibilities : This Manager role will specifically focus on Corporate Alliance Account Management Strategy. The Manager will work closely with Account Management teams and leadership (VP, SVP) to develop strategic approaches for the management of Disney’s largest accounts, many of which are integrated across the Disney company (Parks, studios, media networks, consumer products, digital). The Manager will also be responsible for developing approaches to measuring the ROI (return on investment) of key partnerships, which will include data collection and analysis, as well as collaboration with Disney’s consumer insights group for survey development and analysis.
Some domestic and international travel may be required.
The Manager will report directly to the VP, Corporate Alliances and Operating Participants and Senior Manager, Strategy.
Guide Account Management teams through the account planning process. This will require leading teams in heavy discussion and presentation development, as well as significant data analysis and advanced synthesis of financial and consumer insight data and Account Management expertise, to develop a cohesive strategy for each account
Structure, lead and complete other strategy projects – ranging from large strategy projects to shorter ad-hoc activities
Serve as thought partner to Strategy VP and Corporate Alliances Directors/VPs – both independently and with the support of senior Strategy resources
Structure, lead and distill market research projects to enable ROI measurement, with the support of Disney and/or third party research teams
Explore new approaches and frameworks to address team and Partner needs, always challenging the status quo and elevating the greater Corporate Alliance team in the process
Structure, lead and distill financial analyses, collaborating closely with Disney Finance teams
Conduct forecasting exercises in collaboration with Disney Finance teams, including Corporate Alliance organization Five Year Plan
Synthesize financial data along with consumer insights and visitation data to understand drivers of financial performance based on guest trends
Develop presentations for and present to senior leadership (VP, SVP, EVP, CFO), independently and with senior Strategy team members
Actively contribute to discussions with senior leadership (VP, SVP, EVP, CFO) and all levels of Account Management team
Work closely with other Walt Disney Company segments (Consumer Products, Studio, Media Networks, and Parks & Resorts) and stakeholders within those segments (ex: Finance, Research, Industrial Engineering, Imagineering)
Basic Qualifications :
Five to seven years work experience with demonstrated progression in project ownership and team leadership
Two year minimum in business consulting, investment banking, strategic planning, or financial planning and analysis roles
Technical skills and requirements:
Advanced analytical skills (largely Excel analysis)
Advanced research skills, ideally survey writing experience
Advanced presentation development (expected to develop presentation drafts autonomously)
Significant experience managing independent projects
Significant experience in developing financial models, forecasts and operating plans
Additional skills and requirements:
Advanced written and verbal communication skills
Professionalism to work directly with Disney senior leadership and present findings in formal settings
Self-starter with ability to deal with ambiguity (and see it as an opportunity to make an impact!)
Comfort with uncertainty and ability to drive to an answer (e.g., if leadership poses a general question, Manager is able to determine areas for analysis and data required to conduct this analysis, is able to realize areas for further review vs. ‘dead ends’, and is able to adapt their answer and analysis as they work toward finding the answer)
Advanced interpersonal skills to build relationships within and external to Corporate Alliance department, gather data, and gain consensus
Ability to embody confidence without attitude in order to respectfully lead teams of varying levels in data discovery and analysis and strategy development
Advanced time management skills to oversee a number of simultaneous projects across areas of the company. Need the ability to conduct own work, work with existing Manager, and assist Senior Manager as needed. Need to communicate road blocks, changes in hypotheses, etc. in a timely manner
Familiarity with and passion for Disney business lines
Preferred Qualifications :
Proven track record communicating with clients/partners on behalf of company
Experience in partnerships / account management
Survey writing / analysis experience a plus
Required Education :
- 4-year degree
Preferred Education :
4-year degree in business / quantitative field (business, engineering, sciences etc.) strongly preferred
Consulting or past strategy experience strongly preferred
MBA strongly preferred
