This position will support production executives and filmmakers to provide direction and guidance, including day-to-day production support, for Disney Live Action Productions. This includes maintaining a thorough and up to date knowledge of leading technologies and workflows to support live action productions/filmmaking. In addition, the role will act as a liaison between the technology team and key partners, and be accountable for researching and discovering new technologies and methods to enhance productions and increase cost effectiveness of the process.

Responsibilities : Overall Responsibilities

  • Works with production executives and filmmakers to develop show workflow and documents and maintains show workflow requirements

  • Leverage leading technologies to support live action filmmaking, from point of capture through archive storage, including all workflows throughout those processes

  • Manage technology based process improvements in the live action production pipeline

  • Provides support for Studio initiatives to improve live action filmmaking

Specific Responsibilities

  • Works with production executives and filmmakers to develop show workflow and documents and maintains show workflow requirements

  • Leverage leading technologies to support live action filmmaking, from point of capture through archive storage, including all workflows throughout those processes

  • Manage technology based process improvements in the live action production pipeline

  • Provides support for Studio initiatives to improve live action filmmaking

  • Lead a team to manage deliverables to properly support live action productions

  • Develop and deliver strategies to increase efficiency in pre-production, production, and post production workflows utilizing a mix of in-house development and third party solutions

  • Help define the color pipeline for each show

  • Serve as a contact with outside vendors in the generation of RFPs, bids, contracts, agreements and other vendor interactions related to production technology

  • Familiarity with new capture methods to meet filmmaker requirements

  • Participate in and/or conduct tests and demos on emerging technology for executives and filmmakers

  • Seek and implement new methods to make filmmaking innovative, yet cost effective, exploring all opportunities to leverage technology to drive costs down

  • Maintain understanding of VFX pipeline requirements and technologies

  • Help manage the budget for the Studio Production Technology team

  • Works on special projects and presentations as required

  • Interfaces with varying levels of management; engages in significant contact with Studio Technology, other Disney segments

  • Maintain understanding of production network environments

  • Maintain understanding of file formats and image manipulation techniques

  • Help define key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to help report on success of the team’s efforts in supporting shows

Basic Qualifications :

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with 10 years experience leading production technology teams

  • Familiarity with a variety of technologies used throughout the filmmaking process, on set through to archive

  • Experience providing technology support to live action productions across a variety of geographical locations, including remote locations

  • Deep understanding of all technologies used to for digital capture

  • Proven track record in strategy development and presentation to management

  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, such as ACES

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects in scope, on time and on budget

  • Demonstrated ability to transform requirements into deliverables

  • Strong relationships with a broad range of companies in the production technology space

  • Proven track record of engaging with a broad range of peers, direct reports, and internal and external partners

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with an ability to work with all levels within an organization as well as external partners

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a focus on creating a collaborative work environment

Required Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Film, Computer Science or a related field

Preferred Education :

  • Masters degree a plus
