The Walt Disney Company Legal Assistant, Disney, 20th Century and Searchlight Studios Legal Affairs in Burbank, California

About the Role & Team

This position will provide day-to-day administrative assistance to attorneys on the Legal Affairs/Motion Picture Productions team. This position is part of a team that includes secretaries, paralegals, and attorneys. Candidates should be prepared to collaborate, to multi-task and to cover additional duties as needed.

The position reports to the Deputy Chief Counsel and the Assistant Chief Counsel, Lead.

What You Will Do

  • Draft/redline, proofread, attach exhibits, manage and arrange for execution and distribution of agreements, including use of document management database

  • Project management, including timely updates to status reports and follow-up as needed

  • Manage a fast-paced, wide-ranging legal affairs desk

  • Answer calls and take detailed notes

  • Maintain electronic and physical files and general office organization

  • Maintain calendar and schedule meetings

  • Prepare and manage expense reports

  • Provide back-up to other secretaries within the group, as well as assist with other department administrative support responsibilities

  • Special projects as needed

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • PC knowledge - Microsoft Word and Outlook; also helpful: Excel, NetDocs, Word, DocuSign, Workshare Compare/Litera, SAP, Confluence, Concur, Legal Tracker

  • Strong proofreading and organizational skills required

  • Simultaneously handle multiple tasks with accuracy

  • Effective communicator, both verbal and written, maintain professionalism in representing the company internally and externally, and ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with sensitive material

  • Positive attitude and the ability to be proactive, resourceful and flexible

  • Strong people skills, with a focus on collaboration and ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Ability to take initiative and work with limited supervision

  • Able to work overtime on an "as-needed" basis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-years administrative support experience assisting an entertainment attorney at an entertainment law firm or in-house legal department

  • Previous contract redlining experience

Education

  • Required: A.A. degree or equivalent experience

  • Preferred: B.A. or B.S. degree strongly preferred

Additional Information

The internal title for this position is Secretary IV.

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, California is $60,400 to $80,900 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
