The Walt Disney Company Manager, Product Development in Bangkok, Thailand

The Product Development Manager is responsible for all product development/creative activities and relationships within the region. In partnership with the licensees, he/she will provide creative and product development support in the creation of compelling and market appropriate product offerings in the categories of toys, stationery, home, fashion and accessories, food, health and beauty.

Responsibilities :

  • Partner with the Global Product Development and Creative teams to ensure appropriate resources are developed to support the Southeast Asia region.

  • Generate and adapt creative ideas/solutions/assets for the region.

  • Provide guidance and support to local offices in efficiently using the creative resources available.

  • Ensure full compliance with corporate guidelines and commitments for franchise management policies, quality standards and product approval procedures.

  • Identify key market/fashion/category trends and develop them into actionable trend boards and guides to be used by local markets and licensees.

  • Develop robust partnerships with PD and creative staff of key licensees to ensure Disney expectations and standards are reflected in the development of all Disney consumer products.

  • Create and maintain relevant guidelines, procedures, ideas and input to enhance the ongoing development of compelling product.

  • Participate and partner in cross LOB activities and projects at a regional and global level.

  • Monitor and support local offices during product development in order to achieve objectives set for product quality with regular contact and market visits.

  • Support the team in business development activities such as presentations and product reviews.

  • Perform any and all other duties, as may from time to time be assigned from management team

Basic Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 6-8 years experience in PD/Creative roles in consumer products industry.

  • Degree level educated.

  • Graphic design/product design skills with capabilities in art working computer applications (Illustrator, Photoshop).

  • An understanding of product development and manufacturing processes across a number of consumer products categories.

  • Brand management expertise is essential.

  • Licensee management experience is required.

  • Experience managing a regional business.

  • Knowledge of the SEA region – must be able to identify and develop consumer and retail trends.

Skills Required:

  • Commercially astute designer with solid strategic mind and active hands on approach to design.

  • Possess design, marketing and production skills and is keen to embrace the opportunities provided by the latest technologies and manufacturing processes

  • Ability to collaborate, influence and persuade at all levels.

  • A strong advisor profile who can work effectively with remote members of the team.

  • Ability to lead change.

  • Strong partnership and relationship building skills.

  • Capacity to work across a multicultural environment.

  • Technologically savvy.

  • Fluent English speaking and writing.
