The Walt Disney Company Manager - Strategy and Business Development in Singapore, Singapore

As we position the business for further growth and maintain our focus on creating high-quality entertainment experiences, and effectively build local and Disney franchises in Southeast Asia and India, the Strategy and Business Development Team is charged with finding profitable growth by targeting emerging businesses new to Disney's existing portfolio, managing cross-divisional issues and opportunities, and evaluating new technology and business models.

We are seeking a Strategy and Business Development professional to assist and/or lead company-wide strategic planning and new business development projects (organic growth or M&A/Strategic Partnership).

Responsibilities : Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  1. Strategic planning and implementation of strategies

  2. Conduct research and extract insights from internal and external sources, e.g. macroeconomic trends, industry outlook, market and competitor intelligence.

  3. Perform analysis and work with the executive team to formulate strategies

  4. Develop metrics to track execution and performance

  5. Provide ongoing analytical support

  6. Identification and evaluation of M&A/strategic partnership opportunities

  7. Identify/screen targets

  8. Conduct research and develop strategic rationale

  9. Evaluate targets through business and financial analysis

  10. Participate and support negotiations

  11. Participate in process of term sheet and agreement development

  12. Assist in guiding and managing external agencies to conduct due diligence

  13. Manage deal closing and transition to operational team

  14. Identification & Evaluation of new business opportunities

  15. Identify new business opportunities to drive growth

  16. Independently and/or manage third party consultancy/agency to conduct research and analysis to evaluate the opportunities

  17. Perform business/financial analyses and build business plans

  18. Preparation of project updates and management presentations

  19. Ad hoc strategic planning and business development analyses

  • Local Disney South Asia Corporate team (Managing Director, Finance, Marketing, Government relations, etc.)

  • Global Corporate Strategy and Business Development team

  • Local and global business unit team (BU head, Finance/BD, Marketing, etc.)

  • Professional service personnel (consultants, investment bankers)

  • Potential and Existing business partners

  • Industry experts

ACCOUNTABILITIES

This is a key support position in the South Asia team in providing timely data, analyses, and perspectives to facilitate decision-making by senior management.

Basic Qualifications :

Education

  • Graduate of a top university locally or overseas.

  • MBA from top-tier global business school (preferred)

Previous Work (or other requisite) Experience

  • 4-6 years experience in analytical positions at top tier strategy consulting firms, investment banks, or relevant function at multinational corporations, with exposure to strategy formation, business development, and M&A/investment evaluation in South Asia

  • Prior in-market working experience in South Asia

  • Media, telecommunications, technology/internet, and/or consumer industry background strongly preferred

  • Strong experience with financial modeling

  • Experience in creating PowerPoint presentations for senior management

  • Project management skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast paced environment

  • Fluent Spoken/Written English.
