The Walt Disney Company Senior Java Software Engineer in Seattle, Washington

This role is a member of our java services team, building out and supporting java services for our biggest brands, helping millions of guests find the information they need to have the best Disney Parks and Resorts experience possible!

Work directly with other software engineers, web developers, QA engineers, project managers, and business partners to create and maintain high quality products that directly contribute to company goals and guest satisfaction.

In the near term, you will help streamline our content pipeline, bringing data updates to clients quickly and consistently. You will also help in migrating our services to the cloud.

Responsibilities :

  • Be part of a strong development team to implement and maintain java services backing web and mobile apps for all Disney parks

  • Develop high quality code adhering to engineering best practices including automated unit and integration testing, code reviews, and documentation

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including

  • project plan task estimates

  • software and framework architecture, design, and development

  • object modeling

  • detailed design documents

  • performance testing and tuning

  • maintenance of production issues

Basic Qualifications :

  • 7+ years of full software development lifecycle experience

  • 5+ years of Java development and object-oriented analysis and design

  • 5+ years with Internet technologies including restful web services

  • 1+ years working in AWS

  • Proficient in all aspects of programming and analysis including design patterns

  • Code, build, and release management tools (e.g. GIT, Jenkins)

  • Apache Tomcat

  • UNIX / Linux shell scripting

  • Both relational databases and NoSQL stores, especially Couchbase

  • Able to identify problems and opportunities and champion solutions

  • Ability to complete tasks on time and in budget within a climate of frequent change

  • Agile scrum development methodology

  • Strong communication skills

Required Education :

BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
