Walt Disney Attractions Technology (WDAT) is the digital media arm of Parks and Resorts segment. Through our award-winning websites, we provide a digital portal to magical travel destinations such as the Walt Disney World(R) Resort in Florida, the Disneyland(R) Resort in California and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. At WDAT, we also have designed and created websites for Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney and Disney Vacation Club.

We are currently seeking talented software engineering expertise specifically in the area of Android mobile development. This visionary will have a profound and deep understand of Android and Java, threading, architecture, software design, and other big picture engineering strategies applying them to Android, services, and the many facets of the mobile space. Be a leader helping shape the young, Agile-inspired Seattle development organization into a company and industry wide recognized innovator. This position will report to the Senior Mobile Technology Manager while also participating in daily scrums and cross team collaboration efforts.

Responsibilities :

  • Understanding Disney Attraction Technology architectural vision and how it helps meet company business objectives

  • Leading small to medium size teams to deliver and execute on a project

  • Analyzing user stories and participating in sprint planning, scrums, demos and retrospectives

  • Accountable for uptime and high-availability for all solutions

  • Accountable for performance and usability in all solutions Coordinating with Architecture group on new designs and foundational / infrastructural application changes

  • Integrating mobile application code with back-end services

  • Understanding the need for optimized / customized mobile service responses / payloads

  • Developing back-end services, as needed

  • Negotiating and adjusting requirements by collaborating with internal business partners

  • Learning new technologies when required

  • Performing peer code reviews for immediate and related teams

  • Understanding of continuous integration / continuous delivery concepts and the ability to troubleshoot related issues

  • Providing architectural direction on behalf of the architectureteam

  • Providing estimates for new initiatives

  • Communicating long term technical strategies to the group

Basic Qualifications :

  • 7+ years of software development experience with a minimum of 3+ years of Android application development experience

  • Disciplined approach to software development. Includes defining and enforcing engineering best practices

  • Experience reviewing and updating requirements and/or user stories

  • Experience writing technical documentation

  • Understanding of agile software development

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Disciplined approach to software development. Includes defining and enforcing engineering best practices.

  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills. .

  • Experience with developing mobile applications that interface with RESTful services

  • Understanding of PCI, PII and mobile application security

  • Understanding of mobile application accessibility
