The Walt Disney Company Data Engineer in Seattle, Washington
Disney-ABC Television Group (DATG) is seeking a rock star Data Engineer to join our Consumer Data & Analytics (CD&A) team. This individual will be working on building an enterprise wide data ingestion platform for various ETL/ELT operations. You will also be creating high volume, high performance data warehouse for analytics which will be used by various BI Engineers and Data Scientists for creating insights.
Design, develop, implement, test, and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data lake and warehouse.
Design, enhance and implement ETL/data ingestion platform on the cloud.
Create ETLs/ELTs to take data from various operational systems and create a unified/enterprise data model for analytics and reporting.
Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions that work well within the overall data architecture.
Basic Qualifications :
4+ years of experience in designing and operating very large Data platforms
Strong Data Warehousing skills, including: Data cleanup, ETL, ELT and handling scalability issues for enterprise level data warehouse
Strong data modelling/design experience
Capable of investigating, familiarizing and mastering new data sets quickly
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills in large data environment
Experience with building data platform on cloud (AWS or Azure)
Work smarter, not harder – Proponent of not re-inventing the wheel; generally prefer wielding the power of open source and community-driven software to solve hard problems, quickly
Experience in data modeling and transformation of large scale data sources using SQL, Redshift, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, EMR, or other Big Data technologies
Experience in using Python, Java or any other language to solving data problems
Experience in implementing SDLC best practices and Agile methods
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in evaluating various technological solutions to solve business requirements.
Experience with data mining and advance analytics.
Familiarity with media industry.
Required Education :
BS or MS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
