The Walt Disney Company Platform Engineer in Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Technology (WDPRT) is the digital media arm of Parks and Resorts segment. Through our award-winning websites, we provide a digital portal to magical travel destinations such as the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida, the Disneyland® Resort in California and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. At WDPRT, we also have designed and created websites for Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney and Disney Vacation Club.

Under minimal level of supervision, the Platform Engineer conducts maintenance, administration, testing, and support activities of moderate complexity, needed to support sustainment and enhancements of the TravelBox software platform. The Platform Engineer ensures quality of the platform is maintained through understanding project and business needs and initial validation of vendor delivered code. Platform Engineer will manage defects related to vendor delivered code, and work with the user and the vendor to resolve. The Platform Engineer participates in planning, design, testing and implementation of platform(s) based on project and business need. The Platform Engineer also monitors ongoing maintenance, and enhancements of the platform.

Responsibilities :

  • Participates in project meetings to understand business and technical needs related to the TravelBox platform.

  • Independently identifies root causes of reported issues and works with vendor to resolve.

  • Participates in planning and solutioning for small-scale projects for business unit initiatives not requiring vendor code changes (e.g. new product setup in the current platform)

  • Works with business units to plan for new projects as they relate to the TravelBox platform.

  • Provides support for multiple levels of testing prior to release of new and upgraded products and/or services.

  • Manages defects across multiple projects and initiatives for vendor delivered code

  • Responsible for documentation and communication related to new functionality in TravelBox.

Basic Qualifications :

  • 2 to 5 years of progressively related experience in Platform Engineering and/or business analysis.

  • Prior experience with TravelBox application

  • Experience with project management methodologies (agile / scrum).

  • Familiarity with defect management tools (JIRA, ALM)

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with VersionOne

  • Familiarity with product and resort sales and fulfillment systems (SBC, DREAM, LILO)

Required Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar field or related work experience
