The Walt Disney Company Adventures by Disney / DVC Public Relations Internship - Spring 2018 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida

This position helps develop and execute a variety of strategies and tactics that generate coverage in social- and traditional-media outlets. Efforts focus on driving awareness, inquiries and sales or bookings.

Responsibilities :

A day in the life…

Be part of the solution by supporting domestic and international PR efforts that target a variety of media outlets including print, online and broadcast.

Put your creative skills to work by developing media pitches, press materials, blog posts and video content

Tap your organizational and partnering skills by answering media inquiries and helping manage media relationships, coordinating media site visits, maintaining media-contact and project databases

Help the department succeed by creating and maintaining media coverage reports and providing general administrative support

Following are the minimum qualifications required to be considered for this position:

  • Previous writing/reporting experience with a news media outlet in print, broadcast or online (can include school publications or similar outlets)

  • Proven research skills and an understanding of how the news media works

  • Expertise with Associated Press writing style

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in a Mac environment

  • Previous experience as a Disney Cast Member

Required Education :

  • Currently enrolled as a junior or higher pursuing (or recently graduated with) a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations, Mass Communications, or a related major

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from an accredited college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.

  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization

  • Must provide full work availability

  • Must provide own transportation to/from work

  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length:

The approximate dates of this internship are January 2018 through June 2018. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Housing: A limited amount of company-sponsored housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
