The Walt Disney Company Site Reliability Engineer (PH) in Glendale, California

This position is for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer for the Walt Disney Company. The primary responsibilities include designing, building, and supporting web application systems for a large scale enterprise production environment that hosts a variety of Retail Systems for The Walt Disney Company. In the role of Site Reliability Engineer, you will be expected to have extensive experience with one of the J2EE Application servers among WebSphere, Weblogic, and Tomcat. This position will focus on application stability, security, performance, and capacity management, as well as documentation. Another goal of this position is to improve the application development process. In this role, you’ll work closely with various Application Engineering, Systems Engineering and Production teams to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and provide stellar customer support. You will need to be creative, proactive, and constructive. Responsibilities :

  • Recognized as a subject matter expert on at least one web server and application server technology, including setup, configuration, performance monitoring, tuning, clustering, and debugging

  • Proficient in one of the J2EE Application servers among WebSphere Application Server, Weblogic Application Server, and Tomcat. Being able to perform basic setup, configuration, and troubleshooting for Search Technologies (Endeca, Elastic Search, SOLR), Oracle Databases

  • Experience with APM (i.e. New Relic, AppDynamics) as well as other monitoring and instrumentation technologies

  • Capable of creating web architecture designs that incorporate resiliency and performance

  • Understands the application design process, its dependencies and provide the necessary application team support

  • Understands security concepts and implements designs that ensure the security of the systems and data we process

  • Proficient with Linux

  • Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD)

  • Experience with Git

  • Experience with automation tools like Rundeck and Chef, etc.

  • Build software and systems to manage infrastructure and applications through automation

  • Able to author tools and scripts to be used by others to automate repeatable production tasks in standard languages like bash, csh, Perl, Python, Ruby Troubleshooting:

  • Able to diagnose complex system problems. Demonstrate exceptional troubleshooting methodology, including the ability to author and instruct new methodologies to the SE team

  • Demonstrate ability to independently triage moderately complex incidents Tuning: • Able to perform and provide in-depth analysis on load test results

  • Able to identify and propose system and application fixes for performance bottlenecks

  • Able to evaluate new system and/or infrastructure solutions for technical feasibility against known requirements and standards

  • Work with Project Managers and leads from different groups to ensure delivery and schedules are being met

  • Excellent verbal and written communication to all levels of the organization

  • Communication of ideas and solutions in a clear and organized manner

  • Construction of concise and complete technical documentation

Basic Qualifications :

  • Experience with WebSphere Commerce Suite, IBM Sterling Commerce, Oracle Point of Sale applications

  • Experience with container and cloud technologies

  • Experience with running NodeJS applications
