Disney Entertainment Content Systems Engineer in Glendale, California

ABC Owned Television Station is seeking a strong candidate for the role of Content Systems Engineer. This technology team is part of the ABC Owned Television (ABC OTV) group which is in the Disney Entertainment division. This role is hands on and is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting mission critical media systems supporting various departments across the enterprise and primarily media production.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement new technologies and workflows to support short and long-term business goals

  • Develop relationships with stations/departments across the country to understand system needs and pain points

  • Continuously optimize workflows for quality, efficiency, and speed across the enterprise

  • Provide support and troubleshooting for mission critical applications by working with both internal and external teams to drive a timely resolution of issues

  • Perform routine maintenance and regular upgrades to all applications and hardware

  • Maintain operational and technical documentation for systems

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of broadcast/engineering experience

  • Advanced knowledge of media workflow and orchestration systems such as Telestream Vantage, IBM Aspera, Dalet Galaxy, etc.

  • Knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages

  • Knowledge of public cloud solutions (primarily AWS) and traditional on-premises solutions (VMware, NetApp Storage, etc.)

  • Understanding of video storage and playout systems and their workflows (transcoding, archiving, etc.) as well as non-linear editing systems (Adobe Premiere)

  • Excellent organization and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and quickly adapt to changing requirements

  • Ability to work early mornings, late nights, holidays, and weekends as needed for outages and/or maintenance windows, and participate in the department’s on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management experience is a plus

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Broadcast Engineering, or equivalent experience

The hiring range for this position in California is $92,700--$124,400 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
