The Disney Enterprise Technology Solutions and Services organization provides scalable, reliable enterprise-wide networks and computing platforms to all of the Disney businesses through integrated service aggregation from multiple internal and external providers. The Senior Solution Architect will serve as a key contributor to identifying and defining Enterprise Data solution and governance strategies and architectures that align to business objectives and requirements on a project-by-project basis. The Senior Solution Architect will act as a service provider, supporting all TWDC business segments and business lines including: Corporate, Networks (ABC and ESPN) Studios (Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucas Film,), Parks & Resorts and Disney Consumer Products & Interactive. As a strategic architect- you will rapidly assimilate key business drivers, objectives and requirements into solution architecture strategies and options that will form the basis of the overall design and plan that delivery teams will utilize and apply to downstream data platform solutions and technical solution designs. Your success will be measured on your ability to:

  • Rapidly develop and document Disney’s stakeholders needs and prioritized requirements

  • Align and facilitate sessions as required to elicit stakeholder needs and priorities in order to inform overall solution approaches and recommendations

  • Develop solution strategy and architectural design options and data flows as well as assist with TCO and development of business cases to inform decision making. Experience with value-based modeling and TCO analysis frameworks to evaluate costs is preferred.

  • Develop strategic roadmaps and architectural plans that align to phased investment strategies

  • Partner with technical architecture and delivery teams who will reference your designs and high level roadmaps to build world-class solutions.

  • Develop executive-facing (C-Level) presentations to articulate solution findings and recommendations as well as the solution architecture and TCO that will align overall strategy to a phased implementation and roadmap

Responsibilities : Requirements for the position include experience in enterprise applications and systems integration, master data management, and analytical tools and data platform technologies and architectures, the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and work-streams, creating appropriate content and presenting recommendations to VP level and C-Level stakeholders, as well as defining solution approaches and roadmaps that align to business objectives. Qualified candidate must be able to deliver on multiple projects over multiple timelines with flawless customer–centric focus. The candidate will demonstrate a combination of business and technical acumen with proven written, verbal and technical and analytical skills.

The Senior Solution Architect has three primary responsibilities:

  1. Requirements definition and prioritization to develop phased solution strategies and roadmaps: This role works directly with the Analyst team to interface with the lines of business to identify, scope, document, and prioritize user stories and functional capabilities for data platform and analytics focused requests. Primary responsibilities within this focus:
  • Assist with functional and technical requirements gathering and facilitation of use case workshops as appropriate with the Analyst team and key stakeholders

  • Prioritize requirements based on value-feasibility to support the development of strategic functional roadmaps (capability phasing)

  • Develop functional roadmaps to align solution and architectural phasing and phased investment strategies

  1. Solution strategy and architecture recommendations: This role will align business priorities and requirements to solution architecture recommendations that consider leading data technologies solutions and strategies in the marketplace, as well as Disney’s existing technology landscape and strategic investments. The scope of these recommendations may include enhancements or upgrades, modernization, or technology decommissioning and replacement strategies where appropriate.
  • Lead vendor evaluation efforts to assess appropriate fit-gap for specific tool and platform approaches and recommendations

  • Develop appropriate artifacts to evaluate solution options and alternatives

  • Prepare solution architecture designs and artifacts including conceptual and logical architecture and data flow diagrams

  • Develop architecture phasing artifacts to illustrate introduction of new tools and key transitions from existing tools and solutions to the recommended approach

  • Define technology architecture and proof-points as required to properly evaluate recommended solutions for Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) and Pilots as required. Partner with delivery teams on executing POCs and ensuring delivery aligns to overall solution design.

  1. Reference architecture development and alignment to cross-segment initiatives and value: This role will partner with architects, analysts, and technology stakeholders across Disney’s segments to develop engagement approaches and reference architecture strategies and recommendations for data platforms and technologies that will support cross-segment initiatives:
  • Develop engagement frameworks and templates to streamline evaluation of solutions and architecture recommendations that align to business objectives, value assessment and TCO.

  • Develop conceptual reference architectures for enterprise-focused data initiatives

  • Facilitate working sessions across segments to align on technology strategies and recommendations that will mutually benefit segment specific objectives with those of the enterprise.

Assist in the pragmatic development of technology and solution architecture engagement and deliverable best practices based on standard frameworks such as Agile SCRUM, TOGAF, and ZACHMAN

Basic Qualifications :

  • 5+ years in a systems analyst, solution engineer or enterprise architect or solution architect role

  • 5+ years working in a dynamic working environment preferably within a software pre-sales solution engineering or consulting capacity

  • Proven technical knowledge and familiarity of enterprise business applications (e.g. SAP, Workday, Oracle), leading data and integration technologies and open source platforms (Cloudera, SAP HANA, Apache Tools), and cloud data platforms and tools (AWS, MS Azure, and Google Cloud Platform)

  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects and work streams in a dynamically changing environment

  • Working knowledge of Big data tools and platforms to develop solution architecture strategies for hybrid landscapes

  • Strong understanding of data modeling and data architecture concepts

  • Working knowledge of Hadoop HDFS, SPARK, and HIVE as well as familiarity with Hadoop distributions such as Cloudera.

  • Experience working within agile development methodologies as well as architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and ZACHMAN

  • Demonstrated abilities to develop data flow diagrams and solution architecture artifacts and related documentation

  • Dedicated and committed, collaborative and consultative attitude

  • Strong oral and written communication and executive facing presentation skills

  • A strong curiosity focused on data and analytical problem solving and a growth mindset toward creative solution and problem solving

  • SAP Architecture Certification a plus

  • Big Data / Hadoop Certification a plus

  • TOGAF or ZACHMAN Certification a plus

Required Education :

  • BA or equivalent in in computer science, information technology, systems engineering, business intelligence, analytics

Preferred Education :

  • MBA
