The Walt Disney Company Data Analyst - Streaming Analytics & Playlist Insights in Burbank, California

Disney Music Group has an open opportunity for a full-time data expert. The industry is rapidly moving towards streaming, creating new revenue streams from marketing optimization, to personalization, to playlisting, and we're looking for someone to help us innovate and make the most of it. This role will be a key player in the development of data based products based on a variety of transactional data received from streaming and sales partners including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and YouTube, and providing actionable insights based on that data.

Responsibilities :

  • Work with Sr. Manager to support efforts to develop data automation and analytics efforts

  • Liaise with internal Disney IT team and outside data teams to aggregate and maintain all delivered partner data to ensure it is delivered in a timely and accurate manner

  • Create summary tables from large datasets for use in user ad-hoc reporting

  • Analyze and interpret streaming data across multiple partners including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Pandora and many others

  • Develop and maintain automated daily/weekly reports that will be sent throughout the company

  • Interface effectively with Technical and Business teams to build and manage data products to achieve the goals of various departments throughout the company

  • Transmute millions of rows of data into actionable insights and executive summaries

  • Facilitate the building and implement of tools to grow our streaming and engagement with our properties

  • Maintain and integrate forecasting models for consumption across numerous digital partners

  • Present new ways to leverage data and technology to drive maximize user engagement and consumption

  • Pull ad hoc reports as needed for cast members at all levels across various departments throughout the Walt Disney Company

  • Help advise playlist strategy and execution for all audio and video streaming partners

Basic Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 2-3 years working in a similar role within a corporate environment

  • Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and executive teams

  • Working knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools

  • Keen interest in music and the entertainment industry and insatiable curiosity for tech development

  • Effectively manipulate, summarize, analyze, explore, and communicate data

  • Basic understanding of music consumption habits and consumer behavior

  • Excellent time management and organization skills

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience working with transactional data

  • Previous experience working with data in the music industry

  • Proficiency in Tableau, Python, SQL, R, and Excel (Pivot Tables / VLOOKUP)

  • Ability to implement supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms

Required Education :

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or applicable equivalent work experience
