The Walt Disney Company Sr Mechanical Designer in Anaheim, California

As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for the development and sustainment of all mechanical system designs (HVAC, pumping and piping, etc.) supporting the many assets at the Disneyland Resort. The Senior Mechanical Designer will provide support for the development of from implementation level drawing packages through construction culminating with internal warranty support. Support the development and authoring of proposals as well as cost estimates with critical path schedule dates to support our project management team.

You will work with the Manager, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing/Piping (MEP) Engineering with DLR Architecture & Facilities Engineering (A&FE).

Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • In this collaborative role, you will act the company representative on projects from concept through construction at the Disneyland Resort.

  • Perform as the company representative, including witnessing the signing and sealing of construction documents as needed.

Management:

  • Lead the design and development of contract documents of projects with in-house and outside resources to meet project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

  • Coordinate design activities and monitor field installations and demolition work that align with specifications and code requirements.

Technical Skills:

  • Use and build your experience to develop concept designs and RFP’s (Request for Proposals).

  • Review drawings, engineering calculations, and specifications and ensure that all projects are crafted and implemented to applicable local and state codes and statutes.

  • Review shop drawing submittals and respond to vendor’s requests for information per Resort standards.

  • Site visits to problem address issues and minimize schedule impacts.

Relationship:

  • Partner with internal teams to develop, maintain, communicate, and implement Walt Disney Company design guidelines, standards, master specifications, and details.

  • Assist Project and Design Managers to resolve design compliance issues relating to Projects requirements. Validate that all Item Specifications are consistent with products installed before archiving manuals.

  • Build enhanced communications and expectations to successfully execute all projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in related engineering subject area with related field experience.

  • Experienced with design, procurement, and construction support.

  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment to ensure a successful product.

  • Minimum of 4 years of AutoCAD

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office software, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam Revu and other related software.

  • Intimate with all applicable Federal codes, California energy code (i.e., Title 24)

  • Able to develop concepts, further and improve electrical safety practices, and procedures within electrical engineering design, implementation, and provide overall subject area stewardship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Kitchen plumbing and piping design, FOG, restrooms, and multi-story lodging

  • Other Disneyland Resorts Lines of Business (LOB) experience.

Required Education

  • Minimal Bachelor of Science Degree from an ABET accredited university and ACCSC accredited colleges.

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $84,500.00-$113,300.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
